Description

This is my secret Santa gift for :iconvelvet021:!

She asked for something with a red-black colour scheme, and/or edgy. I tried to mix everything together with a simple illustration and a simple yet not so ordinary dress with black details.

I took my experience from inktober and made the outlines with my ink nib this time. I also used a crayon to give texture and a marker to smooth it down.

I hope you like it, velvet021! And I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Hello! Constructivecomment
You did a great job with this! I love the crayon texture and marker idea; it worked out great. :D

Just a something I wanted to mention; I think her right arm should be longer. Her left arm is bent quite a ways, but that left arm still ends farther down her thigh than her right arm, which is hanging straight. Even though it's closer and should be a little larger for perspective (which you did quite nicely, by the way), with that deep of a bend her right hand should be much lower than the left.
So I would say to lengthen that arm a bit.
One thing that I've found to help with the lengths of arms drawn like this, is measuring the bent limb to see whereabouts on the body that limb would end if it were straight, and using that as an estimate to see where the straight limb should hang to be correct proportionately.

That's just being picky, though. :D   Overall, it's a great drawing! I particularly like how simple it looks at first glance, then you start noticing the more time consuming details (particularly in her hair and the texture and flow of her dress).  It's details like those that pull everything together and make it look more elegant.

Also, you did a great job with her face. You can see a lot of character and emotion in her expression!
Nicely done!
